Art @ Embassies

By | Published | No Comments

While you could say embassies everywhere practice the art of diplomacy, some in DC also double as art galleries.

At the Venezuelan embassy through Oct. 31, the work of painter Fernando Porras is on display in honor of Indigenous Resistance Day, (A.K.A. Columbus Day, celebrated in Venezuela every Oct. 12). Embassy officials say they worked with the Mark Hachem Gallery in Paris to show the most recent obra by Porras. Meanwhile, the Fall Salon 2012 at the Argentine embassy features nearly a dozen artists from that South American country. The exhibition, curated by Buenos Aires-born, Smithsonian-based Alfredo Ratinoff, runs through Nov. 2.
