Mapping DC’s Latino History & Affordable Housing | La Historia de los Latinos y la Vivienda de bajo costo en el Distrito
Hola Cultura examined U.S. Census data, talked to policy experts and politicians, and recorded oral history interviews with Washington D.C. Latino residents to create our Fall 2015 Special Issue. We mapped where Latino residents live and have lived over the last half-century and looked at how housing costs have skyrocketed in Washington’s traditionally Latino neighborhoods. Each day this week we’ll publish our findings and then we’ll continue posting additional media througout Hispanic Heritage Month.
Para la creación de este proyecto, examinamos datos del Censo, se habló con expertos en programas, con políticos, y elaboramos entrevistas con residentes del Distrito de Columbia para crear nuestro especial de Otoño de 2015. De la misma manera, hemos trazado donde viven los residentes latinos hoy en día y donde han vivido en el último medio siglo. Miramos cómo los costos de la vivienda se han disparado en los barrios de Washington tradicionalmente hispanos. Durante el trascurso de esta semana vamos a publicar nuestros hallazgos, estén sintonizados.
