HAIL TO THE CHEFS — Chef and restaurant impresario José Andrés is among the nation’s top chefs tapped by the U.S. State Department for a little culinary diplomacy. The Washington Post‘s food critic Tom Sietsema has a story today on the American Chef Corps., a new “State Chef” initiative to be formally launched Sept. 7.  Among the many restaurants operated by Andrés’ District-based Think Food Group are the popular downtown eateries Jaleo and Oyemel, whose chefs are featured in our upcoming webumentary, “El Arte de la Cocina/Kitchen Arts.” Read the Post storyCheck out the trailer for Kitchen Arts.

Today’s Post also has a story about Tacos el Chilango and the two brothers — Mexico City natives por supuesto! — whose food truck success paved the way for the new U Street NW sit-down emporium. You might also want to check out the Washington City Paper‘s piece last month on the same  joint.

Meanwhile,  Gala Hispanic Theatre is about to kick off its 37th season with the new comedy, “El desdén con el desdén,” by Agustín Moreto. The Washington Hispanic has the scoop.
