Hola Links: Immigration + Identidad in the news

Chilean-born artist Joan Belmar (whose work is featured on Hola Cultura right now) has been named a Finalist for The Bethesda Painting Award 2013. Read the news story and blog post.

 

Last Wednesday’s immigration reform rally brought together artists of different backgrounds.

  • El Tiempo Latino had a story on artists who support immigration reform.
  • NPR’s alt.Latino station also featured five musicians affected by immigration issues.
  • NBC Latino posted a few photos from around the country, some of which included homemade rally signs and mariachi performances.

 

Latino/ US Cotidiano,” a new photo exhibition on Latinismo sponsored by the Spanish government, received some ink.

P-Squared recently launched an online gallery of Latin American art. The project donates a portion of all sales to schools and art projects throughout Latin America. Also, the site’s current featured artist discusses his Latino identity.
