TamalFest DC: Another great festival!

TamalFest DC took place yesterday at Bell Multicultural High School with a large and enthusiastic crowd that sampled tamales from five Latin American countries plus pasteles dominicanos, the Dominican version to the dish. Thank you to everyone who made TamalFest DC happen again this year! The cooks, the organizers, the sponsors, the musicians and artists, and the hundreds of people who came out to support the festival and Hola Cultura’s work. We had a blast and hope you did too!
The competition was fierce for the best tamales with many people telling the organizers that they had a hard time choosing their favorites from all the delicious fare served.
And the winners are …

Thanks for joining us again this year! We reached our goal of serving more people and not turning anyone away. We recorded dozens of interviews at the Humanities DC supported Video Booth and will premiere a new web video based on people’s comments, memories and insights shared with our Media Team. In all, a great Fest! But we can always improve on our work and would like to hear your opinions. […] I loved taking part in this event because it allowed me to gain exposure to a part of the D.C. community that I previously had not had much experience with, and also because it allowed me to support a community organization in its work raising up Latino voices and the arts.
