The renowned Mexican writer, known for her books, articles and essays championing Mexico’s poor and decrying government corruption, is in the Washington-area this week for a series of activities at the University of Maryland. She gave a sold-out talk at the Mexican Cultural Institute on Monday, Oct. 30.

Hola Cultura spoke with her afterwards about her long and prolific career at the intersection of Mexico’s literary and journalistic worlds.
